The suspended fields I believe is the ancient translation of Champans. This is what is known as a Lieu-Dit, or place name handed down by the Cistercian and Benedictine orders that created so many of these famous plots way back in the 900s and 1000s. This 2014 is extremely typical of Volnay which has a reputation for making very pretty examples of red fruit Pinot Noir. I say this as Pommard has a reputation for making wines less than a mile away and they are darker in complexion and more structured. They say a Pommard needs its first communion before you can drink it, so ten years. This 2014, is lovely, long and narrow, but it rises at the bottom of the tasting, always maintaining the line and never deviating. Lovely pomegranate and cranberry notes and flavors, some typical licorice, and very bright, this is a gorgeous wine. Enjoy..
